London landscape architects work 2015
What can we learn about the work of London landscape architects from Google? My impression is that the results from an image search are ‘more organic’ the results from a text search, because it is far less commercialised. The returns from a UK text search are dominated by firms which understand SEO (or those who hire a company like Victorious to handle it for them). An image search on london + landscape + architect (above) gives the top places to:
- 2012 Olympic Park landscape architecture by Aecom, LDA and George Hargreaves
- Jubilee Gardens London by West 8 landscape architects
- Leicester Square London by Burns + Nice landscape architects
- Potters Fields by the Tower of London by Gross Max landscape architects
- Battersea Power Station London by LDA landscape architects
- Jubilee Gardens London by West 8 landscape architects
- Petershill, London by Charles Funke landscape architects
- More London by Townshend landscape architects
- The Crystal in Silvertown London by Townshend landscape architects
- ???
- Jubilee Gardens Jubilee Gardens London by West 8 landscape architects
- 5 Churchill Place Plaza in Canary Wharf by HOK landscape architects
- Singapore Waterfront gardens competition winning entry by landscape architects Gustafson Porter
One thought about this list is that it does not exemplify the opening statement on the Landscape Institute’s About Page that ‘as a professional body and educational charity, we work to protect, conserve and enhance the natural and built environment for the public benefit.’ The Google image view is that London landscape architects design small urban public open spaces. An image search on UK + landscape + architect confirms this observation.
